The latter has a higher viscosity index and can be used at a range of temperatures. Synthetic lubricants often contain anti-wear additives and EP (anti-wear).
Worm gears are frequently mounted over or under the gearbox. The proper lubrication is essential to ensure the correct mounting and operation.
